Video One: “Here to Help”
For the first 10 minute video, the goal will be to remove any friction or hesitations from coming in to seek medical help by displaying what the visit would look like, common questions, explanations of what would go on in different circumstances, explanations of words they will hear, explanations of follow up care or medications they may be given, etc.
I’m pulling from our conversation for ideas and direction and want to address that none of this is set in stone at all and I’m ultimately just getting the ball rolling to see if anything leads to a specific direction. I envision having our host (aka one person leading us through the entire video) but broken up into different segments to help the video be more enjoyable to watch and go through.
The first segment could be a simple walkthrough of the facility from their car, through the facility, back into their car. We could do a walk and talk as they explain the different parts of the facility (or help get across any points we want to include at this point) and ultimately get across that this is a real place and display how safe and welcoming it feels….plus it’s always easier to visit somewhere if you know what to expect before you arrive.
The second part may be our host talking through a handful of common questions different folks may have and help point them to websites or other staff that can further answer questions pertaining to more specific things. This could be shot in a nice looking isolated place somewhere in/around the hospital but ultimately be simple and leave room in the shot to overlay the questions, links, additional information.
The third and fourth segment be an explanation of different medications and treatments that they may be given. Help them understand what different things are before they see them in real life so they are less anxious about what they may be given. I envision our host possibly physically showing on a not-real model what the treatment may involve as well as holding the medication and we can animate in what or how it’s effecting their body etc.
I believe keeping this video on a higher level of production with a host that is fun to be with would be a strong move. Very often people miss what is being said or fail to understand the main takeaway because the video is so painful to watch and follow. If we keep it looking great, easily understandable, very “warm” and “human”, and keep the pace up then I fully believe this will be a fantastic tool for many… MANY years to come.
Six Videos: “Safety First”
We discussed keeping these aimed at the 11th-12th grade folks getting ready to move into a new stage of life. We want to keep these 5 minute videos informative but also entertaining and fun/interesting to watch.
I’m thinking we start each video with something eye-catching…something sort of movie magic related…like this as an example:
-Idea number 1 link to video: We could have the host walk into different parts of the scene into their frozen self…then make a point about whatever it is they are walking into (it could be a cute person of the opposite sex, making eye contact for the first time, holding a baby, etc…just different topics to be discussed) and when the host enters into their unfrozen body (digital magic AND pretty cool to watch) they then explain what’s going on etc.
-Idea number two: These are some videos we made for a company trying to show the ways sugar turns into fat, and pushing the keto lifestyle. We used real life drawings, paper cutouts, animation, and just various fun things on camera to make them compelling to watch. This idea could certainly work with drawings and the other fun imagery to illustrate the ideas as we supply the voice over on top of it all.
-Idea number three: This was a video we made to advertise for a book aimed at the similar age range. Simply wanted to show that we could also create more dramatic looking scenes that may supply a message or an idea you would like to help the viewers understand more.
Pricing
A few things help nail down what the project would cost. Sometimes we work off of what the grant is and use that to gauge how much production can go into projects. Sometimes it’s a flat estimated cost agreed upon prior. For this project, the price could go anywhere from $8,000 to $50,000. Both of these quotes would be for the 10 minute video as well as 6x 5 minute videos. The difference in price would be:
-for the less expensive quote, the 10 minute video would be simplified with a talking head interview style opposed to the more expensive version where we would have all the different segments mentioned above (facility walkthrough, common question segment ,medication/treatment explanations, and animated statistic section).
-in a nutshell, the more editing and special work that needs to go in to ultimately make it a higher end feeling production, the more the project would cost.
I can certainly talk way more about all of this especially since this was so long! I can certainly work within any budget, but I went ahead and made the first move as to what those budgets may look like and why. Let’s chat soon and please let me know if there are any immediate questions.
